A United Kingdom (British) national standards body. The British Standards Institution establishes and upholds standard units measurements, clothes sizes, and technical terminology that are used in Britain.

Although government funded, the institution is independent. The BSI interprets international technical standard for the U.K., and it also sets its own standards.
