adverbs
The (adverb) entry refers to "modifying" or "describing" a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.

Adverbs answer such questions as when (now), where (above), how much (very), to what extent (considerably) and in what manner (easily).

Examples of (adverb) entries and what they are indicating:

  • "The language of advertising has a strong (adverb) universal (adjective) influence (noun) on the public."
  • "Someone has said that the secret of successfully (adverb) dealing (verb) with a child is not to be its parent."
