furtiveness (s) (noun) (no plural)
That which is secret or stealthy: The furtiveness of the customer's behavior caught the attention of the manager of the store, so he alerted his security forces to keep an eye on the man.

Some of the researchers had an attitude of suspicion and furtiveness because they didn't want the others to publicly reveal the solutions to the cheaper biofuel by processing wood chips and inedible parts of food crops like corncobs.

fusillade (s) (noun), fusillades (pl)
1. A round of gunfire discharged or missiles hurled in a rapid sequence or all at once: The soldiers in the movie surrendered instantly after a fusillade of explosives were sent into their group.
2. Many complaints, criticisms, comments, etc. coming quickly one after another: When the famous actress came out of court, there was a myriad of journalists and photographers who were all casting a fusillade of questions about the results of the case and about her personal life.

fustian (s) (noun), fustians (pl)
Pompous, inflated or impressive writing or speech without much meaning; high-sounding language.

In its earliest sense, fustian is "a fabric made from cotton and linen", but now it is used to mean "pretentious speech or writing".

His stated motive is to meet "the flood of cant, fustian and emotional nonsense" which pollutes the intellectual atmosphere.
