Abbreviation for "Before Christ": B.C. refers to the dates before the birth of Jesus Christ.
Referring to an animal having two feet: A bipedal person has the ability to walk habitually on two legs, and, of course, is characteristic of humans.

Approximately, when referring to a date; literally, it means ""around" a certain date": The group started the program circa 2013 in Germany. .
An inscribed or painted outline around hieroglyphic figures indicating that they be read as a unit: A cartouche is an oblong or oval figure that encloses characters showing spiritual or holy names in Egyptian hieroglyphics.
In ancient Greece, a column carved in the form of a female: A caryatid is a sculptured figure of a woman which was used as an architectural support of an entablature, instead of a normal pillar or column.
A monument commemorating a dead person: A cenotaph can be an empty tomb set up to honor one or several dead people whose bodies are located is some other location or locations.
A fortress that served as the central defensive point of a town or a city: A citadel or a stronghold or bastion, was often located on a natural prominence,
An independent and sovereign city and its surrounding tributary territories: City-states are most typically used in referring to specific political entities of ancient Greece and Mesopotamia.
A particular form of state-level social and political organization: A civilization is identified by such features as cities, a class system, writing, and monumental architecture.
A row of columns that supported a roof, most usually in Greek architecture: A colonnade is a series of pillors or posts arranged in evenly-spaced intervals and is to support the base of roof structures.
The environment and surrounding area where an artifact is found: The context in archaeology refers to the comprehensive description of an artifact's or feature's matrix (the sediment in which it lies), its provenience (three-dimensional location), and its association (its spatial relationship to other artifacts and features).
A period of the human past when copper was the dominant material used for tools: The Copper Age was a short prehistoric phase between the Neolithic and the Bronze Age.
