atomic weight
The weight of an atom expressed in atomic mass units (amu).
bacillus anthracis
The microbe that causes anthrax.
bacteria
A group of one-celled organisms.
battery
A device that uses chemical changes to generate an electric current.
binary system
A method of counting that uses only two digits: 1 and 0.
blood-letting
a method doctors once used for treating medical disorders in which blood in drawn from a patient's body.

It was believed this would correct imbalances in the blood that caused disease.

bridge
Another name for a dental part which usually refers to a partial denture that is anchored on each end to real teeth.
